Where Politics Is Raw And Personal

Local Dems to Go Leaderless

The Virginia Beach Democratic Committee is deep in the throws of picking their new leaders. The two people running for Chairman will make the VBDC’s self fulfilling prophecy of doom and destruction arrive even sooner than this Democrat believed. Both women, Susan Mariner and Sylvia Ellis do not have the necessary qualities to lead the local Dems back to life.  One is batshit crazy and the other is just a petty, vindictive, self serving bitch. You can draw your own conclusion as to which is which.   Suffice to say that neither is going to get the party where it needs to go.   But hey, I’ve always said that the VBDC is masochistic – this just proves it. Now the rest of the Dems have to suffer or sit back and wait for this ill wind to pass. (No pun intended.)  Looks like Mariner may be in.  God save us.

Why The Smoking Ban Really Sucks

My wife and I grabbed some Outback tonight.  Neither us smoke and quite frankly didn’t care all that much about the smoking ban.    Restaurants for years have had smoking and I never really noticed at most places.  It was a few of the mom and pop’s that you could really smell it.    As we pulled up at 8:15 pm I thought they must have been slammed.  There was people outside waiting in groups.  My wife insisted she wanted a blooming onion so she was determined to wait.  After we pulled the kids out of the car we came to realize that the restaurant was actually slow.  It was all the smokers outside.   Before the smoking ban we never had to deal with cigarette smoke inside.  We were always put in the non-smoking section and never had to deal with the smoke.  Now, thanks to Governor Kaine,  everyone gets to walk through the smokers together.  I noticed it at several different restaurants too.    Sometimes the people who try to good end up screwing things up.  Governor Kaine, I think we all can agree,  is the not the sharpest knife in the drawer.  Maybe the issue was that big tobacco wasn’t feeding him enough money and he got paybacks on them.  The reality is either way,  you are probably hurting more people now as the whole family now gets to walk through the cloud of smokers trying to get in then you did before.

Don’t Give To The Bell Ringers

3dollarbill

I have a problem every holiday season with the Salvation Army bell ringers.  It is not the people themselves.   Nor is it the annoying bell.  It is actually with the Salvation Army.  I don’t like groups that discriminate.  I like it even less when they use the name of God to encourage it.  In this time of economic uncertainty, I applaud groups that help those that are less fortunate.  I think it is pretty crappy to take those people who are absolutely desperate, and in some cases, homeless with hungry children, and tell them that they must first conform to your religious beliefs before they can get help.    What is wrong with this picture?  I have trouble leaving a restaurant in DC and not giving a homeless guy my leftovers out of sympathy and humanity.  To tell someone that unless they attend your prayer meeting they can not get food or a place to sleep is well…unchristian!!!  What would Jesus Do?  I always find it ironic when a people do things in his name, then act like the merchants in the temple that he struck out.  You do your religion a bad name by converting people out of desperation.  The sad thing that you fail to realize is that those poor, desperate souls, are probably already questioning their personal values and beliefs just based on their current situation.  You will cause them to resent your God,  if they believe in him or not.  Compassion and Help should not feel like you are buying timeshare.  These people are already under enough pressure and stress.

If you want to really help during this holiday season, then find a local soup kitchen or give to the countless other organizations that don’t just dangle a string of hope to some, but actually help all.

Think about that next time you tell someone to put the “Christ” back in “Christmas.

Matt Mansell Must Resign

There has been something bothering me since Tuesday…and not just the results.  It is surprising to me that people like Matt Mansell are still employed by the DPVA.  I want to re post the entire body of a piece we did back on May 5th. It is as follows”

“WTF Matt Mansell?”

It really is frustrating to watch Levar Stoney and his posse run the DPVA into the ground.  Virginia is not a blue state.  I think calling it purple is probably a stretch.  It’s getting better, but it’s not there yet.  I had a conversation today with someone who is running for the House Of Delegates.  They were talking about party support and money and the most dreaded name in any down ticket House race came up: Matt Mansell.  This is the guy you have to jerk off to get money from the DPVA for your House race.  I try really hard to see both sides of this…we at least want to come across as fair here sometimes!  You have x amount of money and you have to use it where you can win.  What this stupid fuck does not realize (or maybe he does and doesn’t care), is that there is no other show in the country but here and NJ…and nobody gives a fuck about New Jersey…EVER!!!  That leaves here.  The Republicans realize that and are fundraising nationwide.  Maybe this guy needs to start sucking off members of Congress like Marcy Fromberg and get some their money for his guys too!  There is a huge opportunity here this year.  We have good candidates going up against Republican incumbents who could actually win with party support.   Throwing them a fucking bone once in a while from the party wouldn’t kill you. There should be enough money to go around. It’s time for you to get your head out of your ass  Matt and start getting money to these people!!  If the House of Delegates stays Republican, it was for  one reason only: The DPVA did not provide enough support and money to the candidates out there.

It is so frustrating that Matt’s mom got her ass handed to her and she got over $90k because of some poll showed she had potential.  The poll that counted…the one last Tuesday…showed that that extra $90k couldn’t even get her 40% of the vote.  What poll where they looking at exactly??  Did they read the results after enjoying a pipe??  Her chances where a crack pipe dream and he screwed over so many other candidates with high potential.  It is time for someone to have that talk with Matt and ask him to resign. Hell I will do it myself…

Read Below…

Dear Matt,

You and I have never really spoken but you have been a tremendous impact on my life.  At first it was a good thing.  Early on in this election cycle you provided some great content for us to blog about.  Then, when we realized that you were about to screw over almost every Democrat running for the House of Delegates, we became concerned.  When you gave your mother $90k for her ill-fated attempt at running for office, it became scary.  This past election has littered this Commonwealth with Democrat’s Dead on Arrival.  I think there is one more casualty that needs to happen.  I think it is time that you man up and resign.  Let someone else have a shot at fixing this horrible mismanagement and misapplication of much needed money to House of Delegates campaigns.

PAINTING VIRGINIA RED – BLOOD RED

This is my first formal post on politicalincubus.com, and I am very excited to be here. I figured now would be a good time to share my thoughts on this week’s election results.

To all of the Democrats who are reading this right now – trust me, I am one of you. My message about blame is simple – it’s your entire fault. We see so many people blaming Creigh Deeds, yet Deeds would never have been our nominee had we not voted for him by large margin. If you say you didn’t vote for Deeds you are still to blame. Look, if you supported Moran you supported a campaign that tore McAuliffe apart and if you supported McAuliffe you didn’t do enough to neutralize the negativity coming from the other side. Plainly and simply, this really is all our faults.

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about the jackass that we ran for Governor and the complete loser we ran for Lieutenant Governor. We had great candidates in the primary for both races, and we chose the most pathetic candidates out there. Did anyone else get tired of the stupid slogan “Deed’s country”? I don’t know about you, but I for sure do not live in “Deed’s country”. It made most Virginians feel that they weren’t a part of this campaign. And, really, where the hell is “Deed’s country”? It is obviously not Albemarle County, which Deed’s represents in the Senate but which voted for McDonnell. Maybe it is Bath and Highland counties. Never been there? That’s why we got our asses kicked. We ran a statewide campaign and hedged our bets on the two least populated counties in the whole freaking state. That’s just how they do it in “Deed’s country”.
And Wagner??? She really should have challenged Bolling in the Republican convention. This woman runs away from Democratic values every chance she gets.  From abortion to gay rights to worker’s rights, we nominated someone who is no better than Bolling or Cuccinelli. Hell, this woman was an attorney who specialized in busting up Union activity. What the HELL were we thinking???  Poor Steve Shannon never had a chance with this pathetic ticket. And remember, we are all to blame.

By The Way, the talk in Dem leadership circles is that Jody “Right Wing” Wagner herself may be running in the Senate special election in Virginia Beach. Jesus Christ, we are like masochists. We love the pain and we just can’t stop.

Wal-Mart For Eternity

For years now people have been saying that Wal-Mart ruins small towns all over America.  I think we can all agree that Wal-Mart has almost everything you need for your life under one roof.  Well now online they have everything you need for the afterlife. I guess it’s kind of a good thing they don’t sell these in the stores.

Recount Ordered In Mathieson Vs. Villanueva in House 21

Villanueva wins by a couple dozen votes, and a mandatory recount has been ordered.

Good news, though. The SBE people will be doing the counting. God knows Mathieson can’t even spell his own name, I shudder to think of his math skills. I think he is still trying to add up just how many tens of thousands of dollars his old legislative aide stole from his campaign funds.  At least Mathieson will have time to figure this out, since he obviously lost his seat.

GOV TOTAL

Okay, so Loudon county made a mistake and reported 2 million votes for Taliban Bob, not 20,000. Still, it was nice to see this on the SBE website. When the numbers updated after they fixed the mistake, things didn’t seem oh so bad…

I think it is clear how the top 3 on today’s ticket will go but I still wanted to give some commentary on it and also highlight some Delegate races as well.

GOVERNOR:  Bob McDonnell  (+15 points)

June’s primary made this happen.  The primary yielded the weakest Democratic Candidate who took the summer off instead of campaigning.  There were resources available that the Deeds campaign wouldn’t utilize that would have helped.

Lt Governor:  Bill Bolling   (+13 points)

This is a no brainer.  Jody “the shrill” Wagner never should have ran.  She abandoned her post when the economy took a turn for the worst.  In all honesty I don’t think anyone cares enough about this race to even say more.  Just be glad we don’t have to hear her voice for a while.

Attorney General:  Ken Cuccinelli (+18 points)

This is the one that should scare the hell out of everyone in Virginia.  Every minority group will be screwed over.  We will set the Commonwealth back 200 years in social progress when he is elected.   This guy has angry white man syndrome and will wreck havoc on anyone and everything in his path.  He is will never see the middle on anything.  He will take this win as a mandate (which it is not) and in his little head believe that he is ordained by the people to run his office to the right.  Of the three highest offices in the state I think this is the one that you do not want on the right.  Steve Shannon would have been a great Attorney General.  Hell, Bob McDonnell was a great Attorney General.  The only reason Steve Shannon will lose is because of the top of the ticket. Well, and because his campaign was pathetic.  I thought he was sitting on all that money for a reason, lol.

House Races Of Interest: (BTW, I project a Republican pickup of 11 seats. It’s time for the Dems to elect a new chairman and fire Matt Mansell)

House District 1: Kilgore (R) unopposed:  it’s sad that Ma Kilgore couldn’t go around and fix the election this year…maybe someone will run against him in two years. This family is like a criminal enterprise. It is time we shut it down.

House District 3: Dan Bowling (D) vs James Morefield (R):  Where the hell did Morefield find a team to put those ads and web page together for so little cost?  I think it rivals a presidential campaign.  This guy for sure had the best messaging team. Okay, maybe not best messaging, but best production value (I am always a bit of a softy for soaring jets and eagles flying overhead set to patriotic music)…

House District 6:  Anne B Crockett-Stark (R) vs A Carole Pratt (D):   This is an interesting race that pisses me off.  Carole Pratt is the one who spawned the creature that screwed up so many House of Delegates races, Matt Mansell.  It’s kind of ironic that so many candidate’s were begging for money from the House Caucus and Matt gave mom over $93k.

House District 15:  C. Todd Gilbert (R) vs John Lesinski (D):  This is the race that Matt Mansell should lose his job over.  Gilbert, the incumbent, is a moron!  John Lesinksi, a moderate, was perfect for this district, if the House Caucus would have given some money.  Maybe after today they will realize that the current logic sucks!  Probably not though.  Anyway, meet John Lesinski – the best Delegate candidate you’ll never know…

House District 21:  Robert W Mathieson (D) vs Ronald A Villanueva (R):   This should be a Republican pick up.  Mathieson (who did not have his name spelled correctly on his website until we pointed out), deserves to lose.  He is weak.  I hope Wednesday someone starts asking questions about how much his Legislative Aide actually stole from his campaign, and why no action was taken before election day.

House District 31:  H. Scott Linghamfelter (R):  This bigot will be part of the Conservative Reich that will set the Commonwealth back 200 years.  Someone please run against him in two years!!!

House District 42: David Albo (R) vs Gregory A Werkheiser (D):  I doubt anyone enjoyed Dave’s wonderful abusive driver fees.  Had the June primary put someone other than Deeds in the top seat maybe Werkheiser could win.  I am still uncomfortable about the whole ACORN ties.  I can appreciate community activism, but can’t tolerate abuse of the law. Werkheiser is a sketchy candidate with questionable ties who simply can’t be trusted.

House District 50:  Jackson H Miller (R) vs Jeanette M Rishell (D):  If elections was a sport in the special olympics these two would compete for sure.  Neither one of them should be a candidate for anything.  Jackson Miller is the cop who as kid obviously got picked on too much.  He is an arrogant ass.  His Legislative Aide was arrested for gay bashing in DC and still kept his job.  Jeanette Rishell’s campaign manager loves her porn.  I really can’t say enough about how stupid both of these people are.  If you live in this District do a write in ballot or just skip it.

House District 53:  James M Scott (D) vs Christopher Merola (R):  If you did not live in this District and just got emails like a lot of people on the old McCain mailing list did, you would think that Merola was running this massive campaign and bringing in all these people from Fox News to help him win.  I like people who think big, and this guy did that when he put this campaign together. I think he’ll pull it off.

House District 82: Bob Purkey (R) vs Peter Schmidt (D/R):  There is an indy running here too but he is so insignificant I really didn’t want to give him the hit on Google.  I like logic here.  Peter Schmidt ran against Bob Purkey two years ago in a REPUBLICAN PRIMARY and lost now he is running as a Democrat with a strong chance (that is why I put a D/R next to his name).  He is still a Republican, just embraced out of desperation from the DPVA.   Incidentally Matt Mansell was nice enough to give him $14k for his race.

House District 83:  Joseph Bouchard (D) vs Christopher Stolle (R):  This is like dejavu. They ran against each other before.  This time Stolle’s brother is also running for Sheriff.   I think this will be a Republican pick up.

House District 93: Phillip A Hamilton (R) vs Robin Abbott (D):  This was probably one of the biggest Democratic campaign blunders for a House race.  Hamilton could go to jail.  For sure he will not be in office in a year.  There is a lot of bad press out there about him right now.  Robin Abbott took the final weekend before the election off.  If she loses…it’s her fault (although I really wish I could blame Matt Mansell on this one).

House District 98: Harvey B. Morgan (R):  This guy is what a legislator should be.   This ia traditional Republican district but a moderate candidate.  His years in office has yielded him some power that he brings back home. I hope with his age he still has another 10 years in him.

To recap, I really believe that the Democrats created this nightmare. With Brian Moran or Terry Mcauliffe at the top of the Dem ticket, things would be different. Given the political realities and the potential liability of the President, neither Brian or Terry would have stood a good chance of winning. One thing is for sure, however — they wouldn’t be losing by 15 or more points. They wouldn’t have made it nearly impossible for down ticket Dems to win races. At the end of the day the only folks to blame here are the Dems themeselves. Just look at the party leadership – pathetic.

Congratulations on your election to Governor, Bob. Please try to keep a leash on that nut in the AG’s office, will you please?

Greg Werkheiser – The ACORN Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree

THE FOLLOWING IS TAKEN FROM GREG’S WEBSITE, WWW.PHOENIXPROJECT.ORG. WE HAVE TAKEN THE LIBERTY OF POINTING OUT ACORN ASSOCIATES:

PHOENIX TIES TO ACORN FINALIt appears worse than we initially thought.

In spite of the good things that Phoenix Project has done, one must remember what we have discovered about ACORN in recent years:

VOTER FRAUD

VOTER INTIMIDATION

BANK EXTORTION

SUPPORTING ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR

ADVOCATING CHILD PROSTITUTION

…AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON.

GREG WERKHEISER SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO AFFILIATE WITH SUCH AN ORGANIZATION. THE PEOPLE OF THE 42ND SIMPLY CANNOT TRUST GREG WERKHEISER…

Greg Werkheiser, Community Organizer, For Delegate?

OPENING PIC

We received a tip, in July, that DC ACORN was actively assisting a Democrat running for Delegate in Northern Virginia. That Democrat, Greg Werkheiser, is challenging Republican David Albo in the 42nd House of Delegates district.

We began our investigation by looking at money. ACORN has several ways of donating to Virginia candidates, one being through the SEIU Local 32BJ NY/NJ American Dream Fund PAC. This NY PAC gave Werkheiser nearly 9k, giving more to his campaign than any other Virginia House of Delegates candidate except one. We not only became concerned about the two large cash donations from an ACORN affiliate, but also we quickly noticed the thousands in staff and volunteers (from a NY PAC).  After establishing a solid (and recurring) money flow from an associate organization of ACORN, we wanted to learn more about Greg’s campaign and what, if any, assistance was being provided by ACORN. Take a look at what we found:

Meet Deborah Coleman(front row, far left), and some of her “students”:

Deborah Coleman - Phoenix

Deborah is staff member of the Phoenix Project, which was founded by Greg and his wife. Greg and his wife are still co-directors of the Phoenix Project.

Now meet Belinda Bruster (bottom left picture):

Belinda Bruster - Phoenix

Belinda also works for Greg’s “Phoenix Project”

Oh, but wait. Just take a look at the two of them together. It will save some time, and of course you’ll get to see them sporting their nifty little red ACORN shirts:

D Coleman and Belinda Bruster Acorn Protest

There is Belinda with the “megaphone”, and Deborah to her left. (bottom right picture)

Oh wait. Something else, kind of crazy, but both Belinda and Deborah are – you guessed right – ACTIVE in their boss’ campaign for Delegate. SHOCKING?

Not yet. They can get active in a campaign. What troubles us is the sheer number of folks from DC ACORN that come down every week to knock on doors in Springfield for Greg. Both documented (as in the case of SEIU) and grassroots (Belinda and Deborah do a great job of recruiting ACORN volunteers to the district for their boss), this activity calls into serious question the judgement of Greg Werkheiser.

I am not saying that because he is an ACORN sympathizer (he clearly is). I am not saying this because he and his wife founded a community organizing non profit, and because they employ ACORN radicals. What remains an issue for us is the fact that ACORN (nationally), and in DC (with the brothel videos recorded in DC recently released) has deservedly come under serious fire and questioning. The fact that Greg would ignore that and continue to associate with ACORN in such a bold way is proof that he is either (a) stupid, or (b) a left wing ideaologue who could care less about what you and I might think because he knows that he is right (elitist). Either way, we think that is bad news for voters in the 42nd.

It’s nice to know that Greg’s “werkforce” taps the same brain trust that gave advice to two people – on camera – about starting a brothel for underage illegal immigrants.

I Finally Have Something In Common With Ken Cuccinelli

This will be the new logo for the Office of Attorney General

This will be the new logo for the Office of Attorney General

I was relieved today to find out that Ken Cuccinelli and I finally had something in common.  I mean this bigot will become our next Attorney General so I like to think that maybe there is something out there we both enjoyed.  I was hoping it would have been something like fishing or hunting but instead it is something we both don’t like….gay sex.  You heard it….Das Fuhrer does not publicly like gay sex.  I really don’t either.  I tried it one time when I was a teenager during my “akward stage”  with Tommy next door and it just wasn’t for me (yeah it felt good, but just not my cup of tea bagging).  I am glad to see that Cuccinelli also does not enjoy gay sex. I wonder who Das Fuhrer experimented with??  I do disagree with him on the lesbian stuff though.  Lesbian sex is HOT!!!!  I mean the real stuff, not the tranny stuff.

Seriously….

I don’t care what people do in their bedroom as long as they have a webcam to share with the rest of us.  We all have our only things we like or that one special spot and the government should have nothing to do with it.  As conservative as Bob McDonnell is, he still did not discriminate in his office based on sexual orientation.  You should hire the best of the best regardless of what they do in the bedroom (NOTE: the exception to this rule is if you are the VAYD President pimping off your boyfriend with Herpes to a Congressmen for a ski resort rental).

I have a different theory about this though.  I remember back to high school when the people who talked about sex the most was the one’s getting it the least.  Maybe Cuccinelli is on the down low (I think you can be white and be on the down low).  It would explain a lot.  He does seemed obsessed about gay sex and he gave the usual “Christian Reich” response when he said that it was gay sex, not gay people that bothered him (love the sinner, hate the sin).

Even Bob McDonnell, by not answering, admitted that at some point he enjoyed a little cake and sodomy.  Everyone has!  Maybe the issue here that someone needs to buy Das Fuhrer the Kama Satra so he can explore a little bit and lighten up!!!

Creigh’s Campaign In Spite Of Democrats

I think at this point it is safe to say that The White House has figured out what the entire Commonwealth already knew….that this is not Deeds Country.  Today’s piece in the The Washington Post very clearly came from deep sources. I really can’t blame the administration for distancing themselves from this disaster of a campaign.

All of the liberals who will be voting will vote for Creigh, that is a given.   All of the party line voters who will vote will vote for Creigh, the key issue is turnout in those groups.  A lot of liberals are not too thrilled with Creigh.    I think a large part of them will stay home and just get wasted thinking about how his campaign fucked this up.  I don’t see other groups running to support him.  The gays don’t like him.  The blacks barely tolerate him.   Virginia is not a blue state.  Virginia still is very much a red state that makes the right choice sometimes.

The DPVA walked into a wet dream on June 1st.  The primary was days away and the state had two Democratic Senators. The Democratic Governor was now the chair of the DNC.  We had two candidates for the nomination who had high energy and could mount a good fight.  The third candidate, the crazy uncle, had no fucking chance of leading the family to victory, never the less getting the nomination.  Then the worst case scenario happened, we nominated Opie for the Election.  Awww shucks may work for Aunt B but to people in Nova and Hampton Roads it doesn’t connect.

So let’s go back to today.  The Washington Post hatchet job also quotes staffers from Governor Kaine’s office.  I can understand.  Everyone tried to help but Joe Abbey thought he knew best.  When the guy who  you are trying to replace gives you advice on how to do it, YOU FUCKING LISTEN!!!! I don’t like Tim Kaine very much, but he has the damn job so apparently enough of you did.  Back in June when the primary was over somebody from the campaign must have thought to themselves that it shouldn’t be this way and that maybe they were in over their heads.  The primary was not a mandate from the voters, it was that most people stayed the fuck home.  Creigh should have realized this was a gift from God and needed all the help he could get for the General.  Instead while Taliban Bob and the Republicans were out everywhere spreading the word of God and discrimination and putting women in their place, Opie went silent.  Three fucking months that were wasted.  The campaign that was ran already like a high school student council race, took a summer vacation and that helped get them into the great position they are in now.

Sources inside the Deeds campaign said today that they were not ready to write the post mortem on this campaign. Let me do it for them… this thing is over. I only hope that Virginia Democrats have learned their lesson from 2009 – that it is possible to be so stupid in nominating choices that you can go from heaven to hell in a matter of months.  Welcome to Hell.
